CycleSport Victoria has opened nominations for the CSV Board of Directors.

CycleSport Victoria has developed an election kit to assist all candidates and member clubs.

There are 4 new items included in the election kit in addition to the Director Nomination form. This new material has been developed through the Good Governance program your Board is currently working on in conjunction with VicSport. The material is designed to assist potential Board candidates decide if they wish to proceed with their nomination by providing information including the “Board Role Description” and “Board Code of Conduct”. The “Candidate Registration of Interest” form is for the benefit of clubs. Together they act to provide additional and necessary information to intending Board candidates, candidate information to clubs and a significant step forward in improving the CSV election process.

1.  Director nomination form – needs to be completed per instructions on the form and delivered to CSV office or to the Returning Officer, Mr. Ron Ritchie by the required date. The 2010 form will be the only form accepted as it has been amended to include compliance with the Board Code of Conduct.

2.  Board Role Description – describes the responsibilities and nature of decisions that is within the scope of the Board.

3.  Board Code of Conduct – describes the behavioural expectations agreed to by the current Board. Candidates are required to commit that they have read, understood and agree to comply with the Board Code of Conduct by signing the required section on the nomination form.

The response boxes will expand as the word tally increases. Questions 2 – 4 can be completed by using the highlight option or overprinting in bold capital letters for the relevant box.”

Please be advised that the board will apply the requirement that a candidate must have at least two years membership immediately prior to nomination date per cl.24.2 (d) of the CSV constitution. The 2 year membership requirement will, for the purposes of the 2010 board election, be defined in its most prescriptive form meaning 24 months continual membership required prior to the nomination close-off date. This clause will be reviewed by the currently convened Constitution Amendments sub committee and recommendations made and presented at the next state council meeting.

This decision has been made to facilitate the smooth running and focus of the 2010 election.  The decision is also made prior to nomination close-off so that it is clear that it is not related to any candidates.

Please call me if you wish to discuss further.
